Registering the Database
In a network environment, the name of a database must be registered on each node from which it is to be accessed.
A database is created as a local database on the node where it resides and it is defined as a remote database on each other node in the network from which access to it is required.
Linux + VMS: On Linux and OpenVMS nodes, the name of a database is registered by creating an entry for it in the
SQLHOSTSfile. See The SQLHOSTS File on VMS and Linux for details about this file. All users must have read access to the
SQLHOSTSfile on the machine they are using in order to run applications and utilities accessing Mimer SQL databases.
