Mimer SQL Mobile and ODBC
Mimer SQL Mobile has an ODBC driver included for use in the Pocket PC environment.
The following is a summary of the differences between the Mimer SQL Engine and Mimer SQL Mobile ODBC drivers:
- In the cases when the both an ASCII and Unicode function exists, only the Unicode function is exported
- Only ODBC 3 mode applications are supported, ODBC version 2 is not supported
- The Mobile ODBC driver can connect to Mimer SQL version 9.1 or newer servers
- The Catalog functions are not supported.
ODBC Files in the Distribution
There are three files in the distribution that belong to the Mobile ODBC driver:
MINODBCW.DLL - the mobile ODBC driver
MINODBCW.LIB - an import library used for linking
Linking Applications
The Windows CE operating system does not have an ODBC Driver Manager. It is thus not possible for applications to link against ODBC32.LIB. Applications must be linked with the MINODBCW.LIB import library to resolve references to functions in MINODBCW.DLL.
The MINODBC.H file included is a merge of SQL.H, SQLEXT.H, SQLTYPES.H and SQLUCODE.H. Application developers should only include this file and not the other files. It is not required, but it is more convenient to use, because MINODBC.H reflects the functionality available in the Mobile ODBC driver.
