The Mimer SQL Data Provider 10.1 is developed to provide support for version 2, 3, and 4 of the .NET Framework and .NET Compact Framework.

For the latest information about current package please refer to the Mimer SQL developer site.

The provider for the .NET Framework 2 and .NET Framework 4 must have different version numbers to be able to coexist in the assembly cache. Version numbers for the .NET Framework 4 provider therefore end with 4 in the last digit of the version number. Correspondingly the digit 2 is appended for .NET Framework 2 assemblies.

New functions in Mimer SQL Data Provider 10.1.2.14 (10.1.2A):

  1. Support for integration with Visual Studio 2012, 2013, and 2015.
  2. Visual Studio toolbox items are now added automatically for the MimerCommand, MimerCommandBuilder, MimerConnection, and MimerDataAdapter objects.
  3. If a MimerCommand or MimerDataAdapter is dragged onto a form from the Visual Studio toolbox, references to the Mimer.Data.Client assembly is automatically added to the project.

New functions in Mimer SQL Data Provider 10.1.1.22 and 10.1.1.24 (10.1.1B):

  1. When connecting via TCP/IP to a database the system first tries to connect using the numeric TCP/IP address. If a non-numeric address is provided a DNS lookup for the TCP/IP node name is done. By doing it in this order, the system can connect in environments where reverse name lookup in TCP/IP has been incorrectly configured.

New functions in Mimer SQL Data Provider 10.1.0.32 and 10.1.0.34 (10.1.0C):

  1. Support for Visual Studio 2012 integration including documentation.

New functions in Mimer SQL Data Provider 10.1.0.22 and 10.1.0.24 (10.1.0B):

  1. Support for Visual Studio Intellisense provided by including xml documentation files for the Mimer.Data.Client assemblies.

New functions in Mimer SQL Data Provider 10.1.0.12 and 10.1.0.14 (10.1.0A):

  1. Support for Mimer SQL version 10.1 servers. This includes support for both Mimer SQL Engine and Mimer SQL Experience servers. Starting from this version of the Mimer SQL Data Provider, the version number will match Mimer SQL server versions so that it is easier to match the two.
  2. Support for user defined types as provided in Mimer SQL Engine servers from version 10.1. These are specifically integrated with the MimerUserDefinedType class and MimerDataReader.GetUserDefinedType method. Two new meta data information types: "UserDefinedTypes" and "UserDefinedTypesAttributes" have been added to the MimerConnection.GetSchema method.
  3. Support for returning xml explain information via MimerCommand.GetExplainXmlText method when using Mimer SQL Experience servers. This is primarily intended for tools that wants to display a graphical representation of the execution plan for an SQL statement.
  4. New properties MimerError.ErrorLength and ErrorPosition that returns more specific information about SQL compilation errors.
  5. Performance data can be retrieved with a new function MimerConnection.GetPerformanceData.

New functions in Mimer SQL Data Provider 9.4.4.1 (9.4.4A):

  1. On 64-bit platforms the machine.config file for 64-bit .NET is updated during installation/uninstallation. This allows DbProviderFactories.GetFactory to work as intended with the Mimer SQL Data Provider in 64-bit mode.

New functions in Mimer SQL Data Provider 9.4.2.1 (9.4.2A):

  1. Support for Visual Studio 2008 has been added. This includes support for both Server Explorer and integrated documentation.
  2. Support for Mimer SQL version 10.0 servers.
  3. New schema types "Collations" and "Statements" added to MimerConnection.GetSchema.

New functions in Mimer SQL Data Provider 9.4.1.2 (9.4.1B):

  1. The Mimer SQL Server type Micro is now supported along with Mimer SQL Engine and Mimer SQL Mobile.
  2. In the Server Explorer in Visual Studio it is possible to show table data for Tables and Views.
  3. BOOLEAN is now returned in the MimerConnection.GetSchema("DataTypes") data table.
  4. A new property MimerConnection.NormalizedServerVersion has been introduced to aid in comparing different version with string compare.
  5. The documentation now contains language C++ as well.

New functions in Mimer SQL Data Provider 9.4.1.1 (9.4.1A):

This is the first release version of the 9.4 Mimer SQL Data Provider. A few changes has been made since the 9.4.0.1 beta release:

  1. The SQL data type BOOLEAN is now supported. The data type is supported from version 9.3 in the Mimer SQL database server.

New functions in Mimer SQL Data Provider 9.4.0.1 (9.4.0A):

  1. Integrated package for both .NET Framework and .NET Compact Framework.
  2. Integration in Visual Studio 2005 Server Explorer.
  3. The following new classes are supported:
    1. MimerConnectionStringBuilder
    2. MimerDataSourceEnumerator
    3. MimerFactory
    4. MimerPermission
  4. The following new methods are supported:
    1. MimerConnection.GetSchema
    2. MimerDataReader.HasRows
    3. MimerParameter.ResetDbType and MimerParameter.ResetMimerDbType
  5. Support for the new base classes introduced in ADO.NET version 2. In particular the following classes from the System.Data.Common namespace are used:
    1. DbCommand
    2. DbCommandBuilder
    3. DbConnection
    4. DbConnectionStringBuilder
    5. DbDataAdapter (introduced in earlier version)
    6. DBDataPermission
    7. DbDataReader
    8. DbDataSourceEnumerator
    9. DbException
    10. DbParameter
    11. DbParameterCollection
    12. DbProviderFactory
    13. DbTransaction
  6. When the provider is installed it is also registered in the .NET configuration file machine.config. This allows the Mimer SQL Data Provider to be used in a provider independent fashion by calling the DbProviderFactories.GetFactory("Mimer.Data.Client") method. From the factory returned all other Mimer SQL Data Provider objects may be created.

During uninstall the reference in machine.config is removed. If several versions of the Mimer SQL Data Provider are installed only the one with the highest version number is referenced from machine.config.
