Mimer SQL and Ruby on Rails
Category: Product News

2007-01-08 -- For quite some time it has been possible to use Mimer SQL from Ruby using the built in ODBC support. The most popular way to use Ruby, however, is together with the framework entitled Rails that includes everything needed to create database-backed web-applications. In Rails, database operations are handled by an object-relational mapping layer called Active Record, and until now there has not been such a driver available for Mimer SQL. Hence, we are glad to inform about a new project at RubyForge that implements an ActiveRecord driver for Mimer SQL. The full source code is available at the ActiveRecord-Mimer project web page. Since there is a "gem" available for the driver the installation is very simple. Simply do a gem install activerecord-mimer or gem update activerecord-mimer to install or update the ActiveRecord driver for Mimer SQL. To read more about Ruby on Rails, see www.rubyonrails.org.
