Mimer is now a part of Drive Sweden innovation program. The Drive Sweden innovation program is funded by the Swedish Energy Agency, the Swedish Research Council Formas and Sweden’s innovation agency VINNOVA. Lindholmen Science Park is the host for the program.

Drive Sweden sees a completely new approach to mobility. We are on the threshold of a radical shift, and it’s happening fast. In just a few years the world will change. We will see entirely new mobility business models enabling sustainable cities.
For years the privately-owned car has been a cornerstone for personal mobility, but now we are about to enter a new era. Connected, self-driving and shared vehicles with superior data management architecture is one important building block for this to happen. Add to this entirely new business models, serving the trend among the younger generation who prefer access to services over owning an asset; and we have a new system for personal mobility being shaped.
A few years ago, the Swedish government established a new instrument for addressing complex areas with huge potential to come up with sustainable solutions to challenges in our society, but – at the same time – requiring close cooperation among several stakeholders to succeed. Both these criteria apply perfectly to the opportunities and challenges with the next generation mobility system for people and goods, and in 2015 Drive Sweden was awarded a contract to address this domain as one of seventeen such Strategic Innovation Programs, (SIP). Drive Sweden is currently in the third year of an expected total duration of 12 years, and with a considerable governmental co-funding behind it.
