Mimer SQL is a high performance relational database engine, targeted at mission-critical production environments. With scalable performance and availability on platforms like Linux, Windows, Android, macOS and OpenVMS platforms, it is ideal for open environments where interoperability is important. The run-time characteristics, such as speed, ease-of-use, stability, and self-tuning, makes Mimer SQL well suited for software product environments where a maximum of database up-time and a minimum of database administration is a requirement.
In a Mimer SQL distribution package both client and server software are included. The database server can be accessed by local communication or over TCP/IP from localhost or a remote host. Through its complete conformance to the SQL standards, a native implementation of the ODBC interface, and a JDBC driver, a Mimer SQL database can be accessed by a large number of different development tools. See the Database API page for details on access interfaces.
The Mimer SQL product includes DbVisualizer, the leading platform independent and cross database tool aimed to simplify database development and management for database administrators and developers. For simple command line database access, the BSQL tool is provided. In addition, there are several tools and scripts available for database administration and management.
A summary of the news in Mimer SQL 10.1 can be read about in the article Features introduced in Mimer SQL version 10.1. As described in the article, the Mimer SQL 10.1 distribution package provides two different database servers (see the Mimer SQL Release Notes for further details).
- Mimer SQL Engine is a continuation of the long line of database servers from Mimer Information Technology. It preserves backward compatibility and is intended for production systems that are upgraded from earlier versions of Mimer SQL.
- Mimer SQL Experience is a new product and has an SQL compiler that has been developed with many additional optimization techniques and rich SQL language support.
Usually, a documentation set in PDF format, or corresponding, can be found in the package. Also see the documentation page for all documents available.
